Arsenal signs Spezia’s Polish wonderkid Jakub Kiwior
The 22-year-old Polish center-back, Kiwior joins the Gunners in their hunt for the Premier League title.
The Gunners have added yet another defender to their ranks as
Jakub Kiwiorjoins them from Spezia in a deal worth around £20 million.
Kiwior, who was a regular for Poland in the World Cup, has signed a 5-year deal with Arsenal. The 22-year-old is a left-footed center-back which seems to be a commodity these days, making him complete for a starting position with the Brazilian Gabriel Magalhaes.
Arteta and Edu have been after Kiwior for a while now but they weren’t alone since Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan also wanted to sign the Polish starlet. This is the Gunners’ second incoming transfer of the window following Leandro Trossard’s arrival at the Emirates.
Speaking to the press about Kiwior, Arteta said:
“It’s great that Jakub is joining us. He’s a young versatile defender who has shown huge potential and qualities with Spezia in Serie A, and also at international level with Poland. Jakub is a player who will give us strength and quality to our defensive unit. We welcome Jakub and his family to Arsenal and look forward to working with him.”
Kiwior could make his debut for the Gunners as early as the weekend when
Arsenalfaces Manchester City in the fourth round of FA Cup.
