Sancho still a long way from being fit, claims ten Hag

United winger will not feature in their trip to London to face Arsenal.

Erik ten Hag claims Sancho “has a way to go’ before being match fit and won’t feature in United’s squad for their trip to face Arsenal.

The former Dortmund winger hasn’t featured for the Red Devils ever since their 1-1 draw against Chelsea in October, having lost the chance to represent England in the World Cup. He has since returned to team training but won’t be traveling with Manchester United, as ten Hag told MUTV.

"It is the next step. He still has a way to go. He will know that, but when he makes this progress, then he can return to the group for games.

"Of course, we all hope for that, because he is a great footballer. He has great skills that can help us.

"We have to cover so many games, but especially we need quality players, and he is definitely a quality player who can make the difference, and we are expecting that from him."

United will also be without midfielder Casemiro as they head to the Emirates, hoping to do the double against Arsenal. The Red Devils are the only team that have beaten Arsenal this season and ten Hag is sure that his team will pull another positive result.

"As you know, Casemiro is absent, but for the rest, we have a good team, which has to battle with Arsenal,"

he said.

"We have to go head-to-head, and we are convinced we are in a good way. We have a prepared team and a good plan and energy, and we will be acting on that."
