Robertson’s confident Liverpool won’t be distracted by takeover rumors

While Liverpool owners are exploring the potential sale of the club, the club's left-back believes his teammates will not be distracted by rumors as they have to turn around their disastrous start to the season.

After taking control of

Liverpool

in 2010, it seems that Fenway Sports Group now wants to sell the club and is looking for potential buyers. The group is being assisted by Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in their potential sale as the club’s chairman, Tom Werner confirmed that the group is exploring the potential sale of the club.

However, ahead of Liverpool’s Friday friendly game against Milan in Qatar,

Andrew Robertson

believes his teammates will focus on their game instead of rumors.

He told

Liverpool Echo

:<em>

"Honestly, we just focus on playing football.

"Obviously you see the stuff in the press and you see stuff around potential new buyers or that the club has been put up for sale and things like that, but we can't control it.

"All we can do is play football, all we can do is control what is on the pitch. There's enough work on the pitch for us to not have to worry about anything else and yes, whatever else happens [with the owners] will happen."

After missing on a unique quadruple last season, Robertson knows the Reds need to rediscover their

consistency

to save their campaign.

"

I think over the past few years, one of the things you can say about this team is that we've been so consistent - we've just lacked that a bit this season,"

he said.

"The setbacks have been too common for a team like us that people have become used to us not dropping too many points.

"Our away form has not been where it needs to be. Obviously away from home in the Champions League we did well at Rangers [7-1 win] and Ajax [3-0 win], but it's not quite been to the standard we need to be in the Premier League.

"Home games are important and we have to take care of those but to compete in this league, to go for the Champions League places or the league itself you need to be winning away games and we haven't quite done that.

"It's been a wee bit inconsistent, which isn't like us, and it's important now that we get that consistency back for the second half of the season. That's the only way we will get the points we need and start climbing the table.

"We're obviously not in a position where we want to be."
