Pedri calls on Spain to "learn lessons" from the 2-1 loss to Japan

Spain was on the verge of elimination from the World Cup as Japan completed a comeback against Spain while Ecuador had a momentary victory over Germany. La Roja’s star midfielder urges Spain to build on their experience ahead of a clash with Morocco.

Despite a first-half goal from Morata,

Japan

completed a comeback to seal their place as the group winners in the knockout stage of Qatar 2022. Although it means

Spain

avoids Brazil in the quarter-finals,

Pedri

believes his side will learn their lessons from their 2-1 loss to Japan.

"

We have realised all matches or life and death,"

he told

Sport

.

"The last game was a tough match. It was a hard blow – we didn't expect that result against Japan.

"Luckily, we have another opportunity. But if we go missing for 10 minutes, if you disconnect, you go home. If they score, it can be the only one they need."

With

Costa Rica

also completing a comeback, whick if they could hold on, could eliminate Spain, Pedri revealed he was not able to focus on matters elsewhere.

"

I was looking at the scoreboard,"

he added.

"When I saw Costa Rica were second, and we were out, I was trying to look for the goal.

"I didn't realise Germany had took the lead, and we were second again. I was in anguish throughout the game."
