Hamann demands Germany federation sack Hansi Flick

Despite a 4-2 victory over Costa Rica, Japan's stunning 2-1 victory against Spain eliminated Germany in the group stage of Qatar 2022. The former Germany international believes Hansi Flick should be replaced as fast as possible after "pathetic" elimination.

After both Spain and

Germany

went to their dressing rooms with a 1-0 advantage, the group's situation became chaotic as first

Japan

completed a comeback against Spain to secure the group's first place, with Germany’s eventual 4-2 victory not enough to send them to the next round.

Although

Hansi Flick

ruled out resignation after the early World Cup elimination,

Dietmar Hamann

believes the German federation should find a replacement for the former Bayern coach.

Former Liverpool and Bayern midfielder Hamann told

Sky Sports:

<em>

"I think it's impossible that we can continue with the coach.

"After this debacle, we only have 18 months until the European Championships at home, that was pathetic.

"Costa Rica had one shot on target in the first two games and we made them look like Brazil. In the team, everyone does what they want. I see no reason why Flick should remain as coach.

"When I hear some comments from those responsible [with other teams], I have to say that responsibility looks different. Excuses, excuses, excuses. It's time for a cut."
