Graham Potter argues “Chelsea and Brighton's main difference is luck”

The Chelsea manager returns to face his former side for the first time this Saturday as he led the Blues to an unbeaten run of 9 games since taking charge from Thomas Tuchel. Graham Potter believes the main difference between his new side and Brighton is luck.

Since leaving Brighton to replace Thomas Tuchel as

Chelsea

's

head coach in early September,

Graham Potter

led the Blues to nine unbeaten games while his successor at Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi is yet to win a match.

The odds for

the Seagulls

get worse as they have not beaten Chelsea in their last 10 Premier League meetings. However, Graham Potter believes his older side has just been unlucky.

"We all want to win,"

Potter said.

"The difference is luck. We've won our games, and maybe had a bit of luck, and Brighton haven't had too much.

"Both of us are under pressure because it is a Premier League game, and both of us want to win. They're a good team. Apart from luck, they'd have more points."

Meanwhile,

Raheem Sterling

has failed to score in the Premier League since August. Asked about the goal drought, Potter said:

"I would say no, I'm not. Raheem's quality speaks for itself.

"It's better for me to think about the team and how we can attack better and create more chances."

On his feeling upon returning to facing his former side, Potter said:

"The timing wasn't great for anybody and sometimes that happens.

"Most people I've spoken to from Brighton have been supportive, but I'm not naive, that's not universal."
