Carragher “baffled” by Conte’s decisions in Tottenham vs Newcastle

Jamie Carragher was surprised about Antonio Conte’s decisions during Tottenham Hotspur’s battle against Newcastle United on Sky Sports.

Tottenham Hotspur were defeated 2-1 in the battle against Newcastle United, after Eddie Howe’s side netted two goals through Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron. Despite Spurs trying to push back through Harry Kane’s goal, it was not enough. Moreover,

Jamie Carragher

was surprised that Antonio Conte did not substituted any players before the break.

Carragher talked to

Sky Sports

about the game and questioned Conte’s decision regarding not changing the starting XI in the second half.

“Yeah I am surprised there hasn’t been changes for Spurs,”

he said.

“You have got a manager who doesn’t change too often actually his first eleven.

“I just remember actually doing the Tottenham vs Chelsea game and Tottenham were outclassed for a lot of that game and the changes came in the second-half.

“Then Chelsea went 2-1 up, he went to a back four then. It was something I was expecting, certainly coming out for this second-half.”

Tottenham came back to the game, when Harry Kane met the target at the beginning of the second half. However, Spurs failed to score an equalizer despite Conte bringing on four players during the end of the game. This was another disappointing result for Conte’s side, who suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Italian tactician might have to change the system as Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are sidelined.
