Former Bayern Munich & France star Ribery retires

The former French star decided to retire at the age of 39.

The former midfielder of France and Bayern Munich, Franck Ribery, announced his retirement from the world of football.

Ribery, who joined Salernitana at the beginning of last season, had previously announced that he intends to stay with this team until the end of the season, but today he announced that he is hanging up his boots. During his 22-year career, he played for clubs such as Metz, Galatasaray, Marseille and Fiorentina, but his longest spell at one club was at Bayern Munich, where he played for 12 years.

During this time, he won 9 Bundesliga titles, 6 DBF-Pokal titles and one Champions League title. He played 273 games in the Bundesliga and recorded 86 goals and 92 assists.

Ribery also made 81 appearances for France and scored 16 goals before retiring in 2014. He was able to reach the runner-up of the World Cup in 2006 with Les Blues.

After leaving Bayern Munich, Ribery went to Serie A and joined Fiorentina and recorded 5 goals and 9 assists in 51 games for this team. After Fiorentina, he joined Sarnitana in 2021 and played 25 games for this team, but managed to register only 3 assists and finally decided to hang up his boots in this club.
