Klopp advised Gerrard to take a break from football

After a successful spell with Rangers, Gerrard was unsuccessful in the Premier League and was eventually sacked as Villa manager.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Steven Gerrard will return to coaching, but after being sacked by Aston Villa, it is better for him to stay away from football for a while.

After Thursday's defeat against Fulham, Villa decided to sack Steven Gerrard. Villa had won only 2 in 11 games of the season and was above the relegation zone due to the goal difference. While the former Liverpool captain was widely believed to be Jurgen Klopp's successor at Anfield, he must now try to restore his reputation in order to be part of the future of football. Klopp is sure that Gerrard will return to the world of coaching, but advised him to take a break from football for a while.

"I'm very sure he will come back from that. During my seven years at Liverpool, with the academy we created a close relationship,"

The German said.

"I always followed him, we had a little exchange this morning but nothing too deep, it wasn't a long conversation. I can imagine it is a disappointment for him with the ambitions that he had and the things he wanted to achieve with Aston Villa, it's obviously not good.

"We don't need to worry, he knows the game long enough, it's life, we all get knocks, it's all about how we respond. He always came back and he will come back from that, no doubt.

"A lot of great managers out there had to leave their previous clubs for different reasons. Quite frequently, they'll turn up somewhere else and will have learned from that situation.

"He will be back, 100 per cent, but I hope that he will take a bit of time for himself, since he finished his career he has pretty much been working all the time, so maybe use it now a little bit himself to recharge."
