Pochettino wants Tottenham return amid Aston Villa links

Former Tottenham Hotspur and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with Aston Villa to succeed Steven Gerrard.

Telegraph reports that if

Aston Villa

decides to sack Steven Gerrard they will target Mauricio Pochettino to replace him.

But 90min reports that Pochettino currently is not interested to join Aston Villa and prefers to return to

Tottenham

next summer if Antonio Conte decides to leave the club. Conte's deal expires at the end of the current season and his future is uncertain at the moment.

90min claim that Villa has contacted Pochettino in recent days and the 50-year-old manager only will consider their offer if they promise significant investment in the squad.

Gerrard who took charge at Villa Park less than a year ago is under pressure after just two wins from 10 Premier League matches this season. Aston Villa is in 16th place in the table and will face Fulham and Brentford in their next two games which will decide Gerrard's fate.

Pochettino was sacked as PSG manager at end of last season. Pochettino, who spent two and a half years as a player at Paris Saint-Germain, was appointed manager in January 2021. In the first season of his presence, he won  Trophee des Champions and Coupe de France, but in the second season, he was able to win League 1.
