Napoli extend shot-stopper Meret’s contract

As per reports from Il Corriere Dello Sport, Federico Pastorello and Napoli have reached an agreement over an extension deal for Alex Meret at the Stadio Maradona.

Alex Meret

’s deal was due to reach its end in 2023, but as per the reports from

Il Corriere Dello Sport

, the player’s agent Federico Pastorllo has agreed deal with

Napoli

over a new deal for him. The two sides met and agreed on a three-year contract for the Italy international, who has established himself as a crucial player for Napoli this season. He was able to keep three clean sheets in seven matches in Serie A. The 25-year-old was not a regular starter in the 2021-22 season and his agent said that his client would have departed the Partenopei had it not been for being picked as the regular No.1.

“We’ll talk with the club at the end of the season, it could be complicated to continue working with this situation,”

Pastorello said in May.

Napoli negotiated with Kepa and Keylor Navas in the summer after penning a contract with Salvatore Sirigu to be David Ospina’s replacement. However, they could not put pen to paper for a new shot-stopper and Meret’s displace has proved that he deserved a contract extension.
