Robertson to be unavailable for Brighton vs Liverpool
Andy Robertson will not be available for the Reds’ battle against Brighton on Saturday as he is struggling with a knee injury he sustained before the September international break.
Andy Robertson
suffered a knee injury during
Liverpool’s battle against
Napoliin the Champions League and could not feature for Scotland in three of their matches in the international break while they sealed promotion to the top tie of the Nations League. Many hoped that the left-back would be ready for the battle against the Seagulls at the weekend, but a more realistic target for him is the game against Rangers in the European competition in midweek.
In the absence of Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas will be his replacement at the back. Other players who have been injured are close to recovering fully, which is a boost for Jurgen Klopp. Ibrahima Konate has come back to training after two months of absence while Jordan Henderson climbed off the bench for England versus Germany, showing that he is returning to fitness.
However, players like Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calvin Ramsay will be unavailable, while Caoimhin Kelleher and Curtis Jones are also likely to miss out on the game.
Liverpool are siting nine points adrift of
Arsenalin the Premier League table with one game in hand, but if they vanquish Brighton, they could move up to the fifth place.
