Rashford not part of England squad for September games due to injury

The England international is dealing with a muscle injury and will miss out on the international break and will not receive a recall from Gareth Southgate for the England squad.

Marcus Rashford

is struggling with a muscle injury and poor form and is set to miss out on the September internationals.

Gareth Southgate

has not picked the 24-year-old as he has been running on a poor vein of form. He had his worst

Manchester United

season in 2021-22, with only five goals in 32 matches.

However, he started the new season on the right foot and was running on a rich form under the reign of Erik ten Hag. He was eager to make his way back to the

England

squad before the World Cup in Qatar, but his hopes were dealt a blow as he sustained a muscle injury.

He suffered a minor injury when Manchester United won the battle against

Arsenal

3-1, where Rashford scored a brace. However, he will be out of action for a few weeks to try and recover as soon as he can.

The United boss revealed on Wednesday that the England international will not be part of the team that travels for the clash against Sheriff, but his injury is not that bad.

"I don't think [he will be out for] too long, but I cannot tell how long. It's not really bad and we expect him to be back quite soon,

" he said.

While Rashford cannot use his one last chance to show Southgate he is worth receiving a recall for World Cup up close, Jadon Sancho might be rewarded as he has had an impressive start this season. He has not been part of the England squad since October 2021
