Inzaghi after the Torino game: "We wanted this win at all costs"

Simone Inzaghi praised Inter’s team spirit as they ‘wanted this win at all costs’ against Torino.

Simone Inzaghi

said Inter's team spirit against

Torino

was great because they "wanted this win at all costs," but he warned that he wouldn't pick the first choice between Samir Handanovic and Andre Onana.

The Nerazzurri were in a crisis after losing to

Lazio

, Milan, and

Bayern Munich

. At halftime, when they didn't have a single shot on goal, they were jeered off the field. After

Samir Handanovic

made a few key saves, Inter regained their confidence and won in the 89th minute when

Nicolo Barella

floated a ball over the top for Marcelo Brozovic to volley in from five yards; this means that Inter can move ahead of Torino in the Serie A table from 10 points to 12 points.

"It's a significant win, and we wanted it at all costs. We fought as a team against an adamant team. We knew we would have to work hard today, and our fans were with us until the end. I liked the fighting spirit because games like this are crucial for winning," Inzaghi told DAZN.

"I wanted us to win so we could return to being good at it. We know that there is always pressure to win, but this week we had to play against Bayern Munich, the most intense team in the world.

"The best thing for a coach is to see how well the team works together when things are hard. Inter's first half was tense, shy, and bad, with not a single shot on goal. After the break, though, they came out fighting. Torino made it hard for us because they blocked all the ways we could pass the ball. We had to use the goalkeeper to get the ball moving." We discussed what we needed to do at halftime to get the ball to our forwards."

After Andre Onana played well against Bayern Munich, Handanovic was put back into the lineup. However, he responded well by making several vital saves. "I knew Onana, the goalkeeper, was strong, but after watching him train, I realized he was even better than I thought. He came here knowing that Handanovic was our first choice. I plan to decide each game, just like the outfielders.

"Handanovic is a great goalkeeper. He's shown that over the years at Inter, and we know that subs can make a difference at any time of the season." Does this win relieve some of the pressure built on Inter and make them feel better?

"It's clear that winning builds confidence. We've won four of our six games and have 12 points, but each player and team are getting better. You don't win games like this if you don't work as a team."
