Lazio coach Sarri angry with players after hitting four past Feyenoord

Maurizio Sarri warns Lazio cannot take anything for granted after risking a comeback in their 4-2 Europa League win over Feyenoord.

Luis Alberto

, Felipe Anderson, and two goals from

Matias Vecino

put the Biancocelesti in charge at the Stadio Olimpico for the first hour. They slowed down at the end, letting Santiago Gimenez score twice, and the VAR took away a penalty for Mario Gila's clean tackle.

Sturm Graz

beat Midtjylland 1-0 in another game in the

Europa League group

. "Games are always hard in Europe, and foreign clubs don't just give up when they're down 4-0," Sarri told

Sky Sport Italia

. "We shouldn't have played with fire in the last 20 minutes the way we did."

"The first 60 minutes were very, very good. It was a top-level performance. I'm sorry we wasted the last 20 minutes because, in Europe, that's a huge risk." The coach kept the team, including goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, together as much as possible.

"We gave three players a break and let others play. After the next game, we'll see what needs to be changed. Our minds aren't as strong as they could be because we were very determined and took the right approach, but in the end, we took our foot off the gas, which is dangerous. I think we haven't done as well as we should have in Serie A, partly because of our mistakes and how things turned out."

Sarri was very angry after his team lost 2-1 to Napoli and harshly criticized the VAR officials. Has some of that anger worn off? "I said what I thought, and I wasn't mad. I still think that, and my analysis was well-thought-out." Sarri, who used to be the manager of

Chelsea

, was asked if it's true that English teams work harder and cover more ground than Italian teams.

"If you look at the numbers, they are all pretty similar. The only thing that stands out is that the sprints go faster than 20 km/h. They happen more often in the Premier League than in Serie A, where they don't happen as often.
