Arthur on Barcelona's 4-0 loss making him want to join Liverpool

New Liverpool signing Arthur has revealed he is looking forward to feeling what playing at Anfield is like as part of the home side.

The Brazil midfielder signed a deal to move from

Juventus

to Liverpool on the last day of the transfer window. The agreement is for an initial loan, but Liverpool has the option to make it permanent for €37.5 million next summer.

He has only ever played against

Liverpool

in the second leg of the 2018-19 Champions League semi-final. His

Barcelona

team lost 4-0 at Anfield, and Arthur said he was scared of the crowd that night.

"Liverpool has a great football history,"

Arthur Melo

told the club press. "I've played against Liverpool, so I know what it's like to be in the stadium with their fans cheering for them. I used to be on the wrong side, so I'm thrilled to be on the right side now. It's a massive team with great players and a great manager. It's a dream to be here.

"It makes me feel a lot. As I said, I've played football in a stadium with a very important place in football history. I used to be on the other side, but no longer. I could feel the crowd's excitement on the field, where they never stopped cheering. They kept pushing the team forward.

"I'm sure it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me, and I can't wait to start right away and feel all of these feelings. I can't wait at all." Arthur joined Liverpool after falling out of favor at Juventus. He only started 11 Series A games last season, and he has said he wants to get back on track at Anfield.

"My goals are to get back to playing the best I can, to feel good about myself again, to earn the manager's trust so I can play my best soccer and win trophies," he said.

"Liverpool has to win as many trophies as possible because it is such a big team. I think we have a team that can do this. We have the right structure. The team is used to playing in and winning these kinds of big games. We need to reach as high as we can."
