Breaking: Wesley Fofana officially joins Chelsea on a £75m deal

Leicester City rejected three bids from Premier League rivals for Fofana, but they have finally agreed to let him leave for an eye-catching £75m as the Frenchman passed his medical test in the United States on Monday.

Chelsea

announced the signing of Leicester City's centre-back,

Wesley Fofana

on an initially £70m deal with a further £5m possible in add-ons as the French defender signed a seven-year contract with the Blues.

Fofana told

Chelsea’s official website

:

"The two last days have been really big days for me and I'm very happy. I trained this morning with the team and it's a dream for me. I'm very excited to start playing games for the fans and the club.

"I'm here to win trophies - the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, everything. I came here to win and the club is built to win trophies so I'm here to continue that."

The former

Leicester City

striker

Gary Lineker

tweeted after the deal was confirmed:

"Gutted to lose him but wish Wesley Fofana well.

"Every player wants to play Champions League football so it's understandable.

"Chelsea fans, you've got the most prodigiously talented young central defender in the world. Yes, I believe he's that good."

After a 2-1 defeat to

Southampton

on Tuesday, Chelsea will be back in action when they face their London rivals

West Ham

at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
