Scott Parker says Liverpool's 9-0 thrashing was his'most terrible day'

Bournemouth "have got a decision to make", according to Scott Parker, who does not believe they are capable of competing in the top flight.

Scott Parker

wasn't surprised that Bournemouth lost 9-0 at

Liverpool

, and he told the club that they need to "get competitive" if they don't want to lose again.

Liverpool had never won a Premier League game before Saturday at Anfield. The game was one-sided, and

Bournemouth

's loss was tied for the worst in their league history.

Luis Diaz

and Roberto Firmino both scored twice. Harvey Elliott,

Trent Alexander-Arnold

, Virgil van Dijk, and

Fabio Carvalho

also scored, and Chris Mepham scored an own goal.

Bournemouth has now lost three straight games to Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool, giving up 16 goals without scoring any of their own. No team has ever given up as many goals at this point in a Premier League season before.

Parker wasn't happy with his team's performance against Arsenal, but he was on their side after this latest loss. He also stuck to his preseason belief that the team didn't have enough quality after being promoted from the Championship.

He told Sky Sports, "I think the bottom line is that we were in the arena with massive quality." "Right now, we're probably not ready to deal with where it is. "So, I'm distraught, first of all, because of the result. I feel bad for the fans who had to travel, and I also feel bad for the players. It doesn't shock me, and I probably knew it already.

"Yeah, this is probably where it stands regarding the players and how much help everyone needs. Today just turned out to be too hard. The levels were too high, and the game's quality was clear to everyone. We couldn't handle a clinical team or, at times, the intensity of the stadium."

"We need to make a choice, and I think that's where we stand as a football club. We need to make a choice. We need to improve this division because days like this will happen."
