Pep Guardiola admits Bernardo Silva could leave Manchester City

The star's future is still unclear, but the Spanish giants have hinted that they might make a deal before the transfer window closes.

Pep Guardiola

says he doesn't know what will happen with

Bernardo Silva

, even though Barcelona is interested in the

Manchester City

midfielder. Silva has been a key player for Man City, helping them win four titles in the last five years, but he wanted to leave at the start of the previous season.

Even though Camp Nou is having money problems, the Spanish giants have shown interest in Bernardo. However, they may have to sell midfielder Frenkie De Jong to make room and money before a deal can be made.

Guardiola says he wants him to stay, but he will let the Portuguese player go if the move is best for him. The City manager has already sold three senior players this summer:

Oleksandr Zinchenko

, Gabriel Jesus, and Raheem Sterling. He says he wants happy players on his team.

"Sometimes you have to sell," he said at a news conference before Sunday's Premier League game against West Ham. "I want the players to be happy, so we try to make that happen together. I'd love for Bernardo to stay here because he's a great player and person, but I don't know what will happen. Whatever happens, happens. If he stays, that's great, but if he has to leave, that's just how football is."

"Players want to play, and I'm not the type to stop someone from wanting something in life. So little time is spent on football. I'm a small part of the club, so I have to talk to the club. The club makes a decision, and I say it's fine." Barca's interest will depend on how their team looks and how big it is in the last few days of the window. They also have trouble signing players because of Liga rules.

When asked about interest in Bernardo, the club's president, Joan Laporta, was vague, but she said that the club will work on deals until August 31. Guardiola says he talks to the 27-year-old player often and has no doubts that he will keep giving his all on the field. After letting Zinchenko go to Arsenal, City is still looking to add a left-back, but their first choice, Marc Cucurella, is now set to leave Brighton for

Chelsea

.

Guardiola says there hasn't been any progress on a new player, but he's fine if the club doesn't sign them. "There are a lot of players in the world, and most of them would be perfect for our team," he said. "The transfers are always hard. Selling might be harder than buying, but there's also an idea that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It can happen sometimes."
