is “thinking about himself” with his wish to depart

. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has asked the club for a departure and wanted to join a club that play in the Champions League.

United, however, cannot offer him that level of football as they have ended the

sitting sixth last season.

The Portugal international finished the season as top scorer as he met the back of the net 24 times. However, he was not present in the pre-season trips to Thailand and Australia due to family reasons and came back to action for Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

Even that created controversy since Ronaldo was switched with Amad Diallo at half-time, and then he was seen leaving the stadium when the game was going on.

Saha played with Ronaldo when he had his first spell with the Red Devils, and insisted that the 37-year-old should look at the wider picture.

"In some way, from Cristiano Ronaldo's point of view it's a bit unrealistic to ask now a club of this size to adapt to him and his dream,"

"I'm not Cristiano but as someone who seems to be a supporter of Manchester United, I have felt like he hasn't shown completely enough of that, he is thinking about himself.

"I am not going to judge him because he is an immense player and I'm not in his position, but I would have loved him to stay because he's a terrific player.

"No one can judge his actions at this moment because it's his own career."

Notwithstanding Ronaldo’s desire to depart, no European club made a decent offer to sign him, with
