Breaking: Lyon and Shakhtar Agreed to Tetê Loan Deal Extension

The 22-year-old Tete, who played for Brazil at the Olympics last year, made a good impression in 11 league games with Lyon last season.

Just days after resigning Tolisso from Bayern Munich, Lyon also kept Brazilian forward Tete, who extended his loan deal from

Shakhtar Donetsk

for a further year. He was a top target for Brighton, Everton, Brentford, Leicester, Southampton, and West Ham last season.

Sky Sports’ Fabrizio Romano

broke the details in a tweet:

“OL have reached full agreement to extend Tetê loan deal with Shakhtar Donetsk, official and confirmed. Agreement signed, medical done on Thursday and new loan valid until June 2023.”

“Lyon is delighted with this signing, which confirms the club's ambition to build a competitive side for the season ahead,”

Lyon said in a statement.

 

He joined from the Ukrainian side late last season following

Russia's invasion of Ukraine

and was impressive during his spell. The 22-year-old Tete also played for Brazil at the Olympics last year. He has continued to shine in Europe and had 10 goals in 22 matches this season before the outbreak of war.

The U23 international moved to Donetsk as an 18-year-old. He caught the eye initially back in his homeland with Gremio. He has continued to shine in Europe with Shakhtar and Lyon. In 2018 he was called up to train with the senior Brazil team as well.
