Former Arsenal star Wilshere says Bale wouldn’t get a game at Gunners

The Wales star is free to play for any team, but the former England player says he wouldn't be a good fit.

Ex-midfielder

Jack Wilshere

has told

Arsenal

not to sign

Gareth Bale

this summer because he thinks he would hurt the Gunners. Bale's contract with Real Madrid is up at the end of the summer, so he can leave for free.

He's been talked about going back to the Premier League, and

Tottenham

has been mentioned as a possible destination. When asked if the 32-year-old would be a good addition to Mikel Arteta's team, Wilshere said that the Wales star is not good enough at this point in his career.

Wilshere told

talkSPORT

, "I look at the players who would play in that position, and they're young players who have been among Arsenal's best players in the last few years."

"So, I don't think he's going to get a game. I think he would be holding one of those players back if he did." Bale has been linked with a move back to Tottenham, the team he left in 2013 to join Real Madrid.

He went back to the north London team on loan in 2020, and then spent the last season of his contract at Madrid. Bale has been linked to both Spurs and Southampton, where he started his professional career. Also, Welsh club Cardiff is said to want to sign the winger, who will play at the 2022 World Cup in

Qatar

at the end of this year.
