Hungary 1-0 England: Southgate's side lost in Nations League opener

England lost with one goal against Hungary in their UEFA Nations League opener.

Hungary

won a penalty in the 66th minute after Reece James fouled their player. Dominik Szoboszlai scored from the spot to put his country ahead.

Hungary almost take the lead in the 12th minute but Pickford managed to put away the Szoboszlai strike. Kane had a good chance to equalize in the 89th minute but his shot at goal crashes into the side-netting wide of goal.

Gareth Southgate handed international debuts to Jarrod Bowen and James Justin. Players like Grealish, James, Stones, Phillips, and Saka came on the pitch in the second half.

The match in Budapest was supposed to be behind closed doors following UEFA sanctioned Hungary for anti-gay and racist chanting during Euro 2020 matches but a 35,000 crowd made up of children was allowed into the stadium.

England

will face

Germany

in Munich and Hungary will play Italy in Cesena on Tuesday.
