Ukraine vanquish Scotland 3-1 edging closer to World Cup

Following their first competitive game since Russia invading their country, Ukraine put off a late Scotland charge to go closer to qualifying for the World Cup 2022.

won an emotional game on their comeback to playing competitive football as they move closer to World Cup qualification by vanquishing

3-1.

The play-off semi-final for the World Cup had to be delayed as Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. However, Oleksandr Petrakov’s side won at Hampden Park notwithstanding all that.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke admitted that he was “desperate” to get qualified for the World Cup notwithstanding the hardship Ukraine went through. However, they also could not catch up the intensity the visitors showed.

Ukraine were able to score the opener through Andriy Yarmolenko and the second one was scored by Roman Yaremchuk. Artem Dovbyk then scored another one for his side in the stoppage time to further seal their victory.
