Kurt Zouma sentenced to 180 hours of community service

The West Ham defender has to do 180 hours of community service as he pleaded guilty to slapping and kicking a cat.

West Ham

defender has to pay about £9,000 in court costs.

An incident happened in February and a video of Zouma was shared on his brother’s Snapchat.

The 27-year-old admitted that he has caused unnecessary suffering to a cat by kicking and slapping it on the head in the court last week.

He kicked the animal in his kitchen before he threw a pair of shoes at it. His 24-year-old brother sent the video to a woman he was messaging and she raised the alarm. He was also sentenced to 140 hours of community service.

Hazel Stevens, for the prosecution, said Kurt Zouma was saying in the video:

"I swear I'll kill it, I swear I'll kill it."

Ms. Stevens said that the clip was recorded when they blamed the cats for damaging a chair.

"Kurt Zouma is determined to chastise or carry out some sort of retribution for the damage caused," s

he said.

She also said that the woman who saw the footage first was appalled by the incident and she cancelled her date with Yoan, saying: "I don't think hitting a cat like that is OK - don't bother coming today."
