Donnarumma: I am happy for what Milan did but I have no regrets

Gianluigi Donnarumma, the goalie for Paris Saint-Germain, stated he is thrilled about Milan's Serie A league title and has no misgivings about departing the club.

The Italy international left San Siro in the summer, and his successor, Mike Maignan, was instrumental in the A

C Milan

's Scudetto triumph.

When asked whether he had any regrets about his exit during a news conference prior to the Finalissima with Argentina, he said: “No, I’m happy for what Milan did and I wrote to all my team-mates

“I am happy for what they did but there are no regrets.”

Despite winning

Ligue 1

with PSG and being named Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year, Donnarumma has been criticized heavily this season, particularly for his involvement in PSG's

Champions League

last-16 loss to Real Madrid.

PSG had won the first leg 1-0 and increased their lead at the Bernabeu, but Madrid equalized via Karim Benzema after intercepting Donnarumma – and the goal prompted a complete reversal, with the France striker scoring a hat trick to send the eventual champions through.

Donnarumma, on the other hand, believes the goal should not have been allowed to stand, He stated: “For me it was a foul. We could have handled it better – even afterwards.

“It’s a shame because football is a game of moments and we had dominated before that. We have a great team with great players.”

Italy will meet England in the Nations League at San Siro in September, and Donnarumma was jeered on his previous visit during the UEFA Nations League semi-final against Spain, which came only weeks after his bitter leave from Milan.

However, the 23-year-old has advised fans to concentrate on supporting the national team, He continued: “I think about me and my team. What people think won’t affect me. I just believe that when I’m with Italy, you should support Italy.”
