Alexander-Arnold ready for Vinicius threat

Vinicius Junior has been in great shape for Real Madrid, and his match against Trent Alexander-Arnold on Saturday should be very exciting.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

has been impressed by

Vinicius Junior

during Real Madrid's run to the

Champions League final

, but he says Liverpool has a plan to deal with the Brazilian.

This season, Vinicius has had a hand in 37 goals for

Real Madrid

, which includes three goals and six assists in the Champions League. With these nine goals, Vinicius is one short of becoming the first South American player under the age of 21 since Lionel Messi in 2008-09 to be involved in 10 or more goals.

Even though most of the attention may be on

Karim Benzema

in Paris before the game, Alexander-Arnold will have to deal with Vinicius on Madrid's left side. Alexander-Arnold was asked before Saturday's match at the Stade de France how he plans to stop Vinicius. He said, "You expect to face the best."

"There will be battles all over the field, and we have plans for each team we play. Vinicius is a fun player to watch, but we have work to do as a group and as individuals. There are fights between individuals, but the team is what wins."

Alexander-Arnold is set to start his third Champions League final. If he does, he will be younger than Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller, who is the youngest player to do so (23y, 245d). On Saturday, Alexander-Arnold will be 23 years old and 233 days old.

This season, the England player has started 46 games for Liverpool. Only Virgil van Dijk (50) and Alisson (53) have started more games. Alexander-most Arnold's recent start was last Sunday's 3-1 win over Wolves, but that wasn't enough to stop Manchester City from beating Liverpool to the Premier League title.

Even though Liverpool's dream of a quadruple is over, Alexander-Arnold says that the loss will not be felt in the French capital. "Absolutely not. "We're done with that," he said. "This season, we have enough experience to focus on the competition we have coming up.

"For us, it's been helpful to forget about other competitors. No matter what happened before last week, it was sad and hard to deal with, but you've moved on. "We need to get ready for the Champions League final, and what better way to make up for it than to come to Paris and win the best competition in the world?"

Andy Robertson will almost certainly play on the other side of the field from Trent Alexander-Arnold. The left-back was a big part of the Reds' recent run in Europe. Liverpool are playing their 63rd game of the season. No team in Europe's top five leagues will have played more games than Liverpool, who won both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

In fact, Manchester United was the last team from the

Premier League

, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Serie A, or Bundesliga to play more times in all competitions than they did in 2016–17. (64 games). In the meantime, Madrid has played 55 games and won the LaLiga title with four games to spare. This has given Carlo Ancelotti the freedom to use a lot of different players in recent weeks.

But Robertson is sure that his team won't be tired when they play the Spanish champions. Robertson said, "They've had a bit more time to prepare, and their league was over two or three weeks ago. They might not have played as many games at a fast pace. We knew that our run would be hard on our bodies, but we are in the best shape possible.

"We've been through a lot, and yes, we've been hurt and had problems, but the boys are in great shape. It's important that we go into the last game with the same competitive spirit we've had all season. "Real has had a great season. They won the league and played in some great games in the Champions League.

"We have to get in the way of them. This season, our fans expect a lot from us, and we want to win for them."
