Never had this much pain; I made Milan a promise - Ibra

The 40-year-old has talked about the pain he endured in the last six months, revealing he barely slept; however, he refused to give up as he had ‘made a promise to Milan.’

had to under go keyhole surgery yesterday and will not be playing for the next seven or eight months.

The star player has gave a statement on his

Instagram

account, admitting the truth about his physical condition and what he endured in the last six months.

“For the past six months, I played without an ACL in my left knee,”

he wrote.

“Swollen knee for six months. I was only able to train with the team 10 times in the last six months. Took more than 20 injections in six months.

“Emptied the knee once a week for six months. Painkillers every day for six months.

“Barely slept for six months because of the pain. Never suffered so much on and off the pitch. I made something impossible to something possible.

“In my mind, I had only one objective, to make my teammates and coach champions of Italy because I made them a promise. Today I have a new ACL and another trophy.”

Many believed he would hang up his boots as his contract reaches its end in June.

However, he is expected to stay until 2023, putting pen to paper for a new contract with a reduced salary.

Ibra came back to

Milan

in January 2020 and has had a crucial role for the club’s return to the top of Serie A. he met the back of the net 92 times n 159 games in four and a half years at Milan.
