Alaba doesn’t take part in Madrid training before City clash

David Alaba was not present in the Real Madrid training before Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Manchester City.

David Alaba

, the

Real Madrid

defender, did not take part in his side’s training on Monday, casting doubt over his availability for the battle against

Manchester City

.

The defender, who also grabbed a La Liga title aside from his 10 Bundesliga crowns as Real Madrid won the title this season, trained individually, based on reports from the club’s official website.

Alaba, who joined on a free transfer last season when his contract with Bayern Munich expired, has had a crucial role for Carlo Ancelotti this season and featured in 45 games, starting in all of them.

However, he was sent off in the first leg of the battle against City last week, which came down to 4-3 in the favor of City, as he sustained a hamstring issue. It is yet to be known whether he will be available for the second leg. Moreover, he did not feature against Espanyol on Saturday.

Real Madrid are looking to seal a place in the final, which will happen on May 28 in Paris. Liverpool will also lock horns with Villarreal in the semi-final’s second leg.

Gareth Bale was not part of the training either, whereas Eden Hazard is recovering from a fibula fracture.
