Valencia denied reports about Carlos Soler joining Barcelona
The Spanish star has performed well this season and has attracted the attention of several clubs.
Spanish media reported on Monday that Soler, who has a contract with Valencia until 2023, is on the verge of joining Barca for 20 million euros. Barcelona wanted to strengthen their attacking line for next season, but Valencia reacted to this and denied it.
Club's statement reads:
"In response to a story published this Monday in Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Valencia CF deny the existence of any agreement – or any ongoing negotiation – with FC Barcelona for the transfer of Carlos Soler.
"The club are currently in an open negotiation process with the player and his agents to extend his contract with Valencia CF."
Soler has scored 12 goals and 5 assists for Sevilla this season. Rumors of him joining Barca come as Frenkie de Jong is about to leave for Camp Nou, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich reportedly looking to sign him.
