Zlatan should consider his retirement - Luca Toni

The Swedish star is not having a good time in Milan and Toni advised him to consider retirement.

Former

Italy

striker Luca Toni believes that if

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

is no longer at his best, he should retire, but that decision should be made by

AC Milan

.

Ibra has struggled with a number of injuries this season, playing just 1,098 minutes in 23 games. In 2022, he played only twice from the start and missed five games due to injury. He will be out of action for another 10 days due to a knee injury. Toni now claims that Ibrahimovic must decide whether to retire.

He said:

“After a story like the one between Ibra and Milan, I hope it’s Zlatan to take the final decision.

“He is a champion and deserves to choose what to do. He deserves to finish as a protagonist, given what he has represented.

“I would tell him to go ahead until he can,” the 2006 Italy World Cup winner continued. “If he can’t do so, if he can’t play at his best, it’s better to stop.

“It would be sad to see a champion like Ibra not getting enough playing time or not being up to the task. A player like him must always be at the top, like during his entire career.”
