Allegri: Buying Bremer? You can't judge a player until you coach them
When questioned about Torino's Gleison Bremer, Massimiliano Allegri declined to respond, disclosing a bit of wisdom he learned from Fabio Capello at Real Madrid.
Bremer
is one of the league's top defenders, and despite just renewing his contract with the Granata through 2024, he is expected to leave in the summer. Inter, AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea have all been associated with seeking his services.
Juventus is also monitoring the Brazilian defender, and according to Italian rumors, the Old Lady may make a move if
Matthijs de Lit
departs in the summer.
Tomorrow's derby della Mole pits the Old Lady against Torino, and Allegri was questioned about Bremer and if he'd like to manage him in the future.
“Don’t let me talk about players I don’t know,” Allegri replied.
“That’s something I’ve learned from Fabio Capello. When he went to Real Madrid, there was a player that he didn’t like. I think he was Redondo.
“However, when Capello went to Madrid, he played almost every game. This means that one has to work with a player to know him well. You can give a judgement, but it would be superficial if you don’t coach him every day.”
The 54-year-old coach finished his news conference by discussing the Granata encounter and confirming that
Leonardo Bonucci
will miss the derby due to a calf issue.
