Wolves’ Molineux Stadium to host England’s UEFA Nations League games

The England’s UEFA Nations League home matches against Italy and Hungary will be held at Wolves’ Molineux stadium.

England

will lock horns with Italy on Saturday, June 11 before facing Hungary three days later at the same venue.

The encounter with

Italy

will be behind closed doors due to the sanction UEFA imposed in October but for the

Hungary

game, supporters will be allowed to come.

The Three Lions have been playing in Sunderland, Manchester, Leeds and Middlesbrough since the UEFA EURO 2016 build-up.

The England squad also visited Leicester in 2018 and Southampton in 2019.

Gareth Southgate

said:

"While Wembley is our home, we very much enjoy taking the squad on the road where possible, particularly in the run-up to a major tournament.

"2022 promises to be an exciting adventure for England fans and it is great that one of English football's famous stadiums will be a part of that. I know from my time in charge of the England U21s how much a Molineux crowd embraces the experience of international football, so we look forward to returning to Wolverhampton in June."

In the last four occasions, the England senior men’s team have featured at Molineux. England Women are also welcomed in the Stadium for an Arnold Clark Cup fixture against Germany next Wednesday.

England's Nations League campaign starts with their battle against Hungary as the Group 3A opener in Budapest on June 4 before taking on Germany in Munich on June 7.

The World Cup 2022 build-up in Qatar will begin in March as Southgate’s side have two friendlies against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast, with both being played at Wembley.
