Barca exiting the Champions League p***** me off - Xavi

Xavi and Ronald Araujo criticized verdicts as the Blaugrana got eliminated from the Champions League after their loss at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Barcelona

manager

Xavi

was frustrated after his side exited the

Champions League

on Wednesday.

The Blaugrana’s elimination was confirmed following their thumping 3-0 loss at the hands of

Bayern Munich

in Group E.

The Catalans will not progress to the Round of 16 for the first time since the 2003-04 season, with Benfica’s victory over Dynamo Kiev placing them third in the group stage.

They have only found the target twice in six matches and gained seven points, which is their second-lowest at this stage of the competition.

However, they will continue in the Europa League in February and should they seal a victory, they make their way back to the Champions League and Xavi insisted that it is a must with the current situation of his side.

"

I'm angry. This is the reality and it p***** me off,"

he told reporters.

"We have to tackle it face on. There's nothing else for it. A new era starts today. We start from zero.

"Barca's objective is the Champions League, not the Europa League.

"But our reality now is the Europa League, and we have to win it."

Ronald Araujo

believes that the damage was done in other group games rather than the one on Wednesday, which sealed their fate. The Uruguay international is aware of the expectations to ensure that better times are coming.

"

It's a damning result and they had chances to make it worse,"

Araujo said.

"Ultimately, we didn't fail to qualify because of this game, but because of what we did in the other games.

"It's true that, right now, we're not among the best teams in Europe. If we were, we'd have qualified.

"We have to keep on working and hope that good things will come for us soon."
