I would love to return to Ajax - Chelsea’s Ziyech

The Moroccan seems willing to make a move back to Johan Cruyff ArenA.

Hakim Ziyech

had revealed that a return to

Ajax

at some point would be appealing to him. The

Chelsea

winger joined the club on a deal worth £36 million ($48m) from Ajax in 2020 but he has been having a hard time getting a regular place in the starting line-up.

The Morocco international has been linked with a move away from the Blues before the winter transfer window and has now admitted that he is willing to take the chance of going back to Ajax.

The 28-year-old’s contract will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2025, but when quizzed whether returning to Ajax holds any appeal, Ziyech told

Ziggo Sport

:<em>

"I would love to. I had a fantastic time there.

"It’s a place where I have felt at home, and whether it will ever happen, the future will tell. If it is up to me, it will definitely happen.

"That’s not up to me; I leave that to them. I just try to enjoy every day now and do my thing.

"What the future brings, we’ll see then. Like I said, I hope it happens one day. Whether it will happen is not up to me."

The Chelsea winger proved himself as a great attacker in European football at Ajax, having a crucial role in their run to a domestic double and the semi-final of the

Champions League

in 2018-19.

The Premier League side’s fans have yet to see the Moroccan pull off that kind of form, as he met the target nine times and contributed eight assists in 54 matches while dealing with niggling injuries.

Ziyech has improved recently, however; finding the back of the net in their 2-1 victory over Watford before assisting Mason Mount in their 3-2 defeat at the hands of West Ham on Saturday.
