Mortada plans to run for Zamalek presidential election

The Zamalek president pronounced that he plans to run for the club elections and he talked about improving the youth sectors.

Following their one-year ban from their position,

Mortada Mansour

and his board are reinstated at

Zamalek

.

The club’s new presidential elections are coming up so soon and it was not clear if the Zamalek president would run for another term.

However, he ended the speculations on Friday when he announced that he aims to run in the elections.

I will run in the upcoming Zamalek presidential elections. The rest of the board with which I will run in the elections has been determined,”

Mansour said in a meeting with representatives of Zamalek social media fan pages.

There will be radical changes in the youth sectors of the club in the coming period, whether that’s in football, handball, basketball or volleyball,”

he added.

Zamalek have been trying to renew Achraf Bencharki’s deal for a while now.

Notwithstanding contract renewals with Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh going successfully, the Morocco international is a tough nut to crack as the talks are not advancing and his contract is due to expire in June 2022.

Mansour insisted that he will convince the forward to stay put if he hasn’t penned with another club.

“Achraf Bencharki is an excellent player and is not in fully focused now because of the criticism he’s under.

“We will hold a session with him in order to inquire if he signed for another club or not. We will not beg anyone, but if he hasn’t signed for another club, he will sign for us and extend his contract with Zamalek,”

he concluded.

Bencharki was the top scorer last season and had contributed to a lot of success in the club since 2019 when he joined from

Al-Hilal

.

During those two years with the White Knights, the Moroccan helped them grab three trophies; the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup, and the African Super Cup. He also guided them to the

CAF Champions League

final.
