France Football apologizes to Paolo Rossi’s family

France Football chief has reacted to the backlash from Italian community after Paolo Rossi was left out of Ballon d’Or the ‘In Memoriam’ segment.

As part of the France Football event in Paris, where

was handed his seventh Ballon d'Or, the Memoriam segment was dedicated to the football legends who passed away in the last year.

Late

Argentina

and

Germany

legends, Diego Maradona and Gerd Müller were mentioned in this segment, whoever, France Football failed to honor the Italian World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner, Paolo Rossi.

France Football chief Pascal Ferré reflected on the issue in an interview with a Gazzetta dello Sport, saying he is willing to contact the family of the late Italian legend.

“We don’t want to get into this sort of controversy, anything I say would be twisted. We cannot read every aspect of the ceremony in a controversial way,”

Ferré said.

“If needs be, I will speak directly to the family of Paolo Rossi.”
