Liverpool in constant contract with Keita after Guinea coup

The Liverpool star cannot leave his country for UK at the moment.

Liverpool

have announced that they are in constant contact with their midfielder Nabi Keita, who was caught up in Guinea after the coup.

This morning, the Guinean army staged a coup against the government, thus closing all the country's land and air borders. Guinea had to face Morocco in the World Cup qualifiers, and the match, which was scheduled to take place today, has been postponed to another day. Thus, Nabi Keita, who was about to return to Liverpool, faced the closed borders of his country and is currently unable to leaveGuinea for England.

Concerns over his condition escalated to the point where Liverpool finally issued a statement claiming he was in constant contact with his midfielder and was monitoring the situation closely.

Liverpool statement reads: :

"We are in constant contact with Naby and have had regular communication via his national team management. We are satisfied that he is safe and well cared for.

"Obviously the situation is fluid and we will maintain regular dialogue with the relevant authorities as we work to get Naby back to Liverpool in a timely and secure manner."
