Reguilon called up to Spain squad amid injury blow

The Tottenham star will be available for La Roja’s last game of the current international break.

Following their shock defeat against Sweden last week, La Roja crushed Georgia with a 4-0 result on Sunday.

Jose Gaya

, who scored the opening goal against Georgia, was forced off the field with an injury in the 74th minute. The Valencia left-back was followed by Aymeric Laporte, who was also substituted with an injury.

Luis Enrique has called up Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon to the national team as he needs a replacement for the injured Gaya. The 24-year-old will be available for Spain’s next World Cup qualifier against Kosovo on Wednesday.

Reguilon has made five appearances for La Roja, with the full-back hoping to increase his caps in the upcoming game. However, Barcelona star

Jordi Alba

is also available for the position, which might prevent Reguilon from starting against Kosovo.
