The Argentine joined Inter this summer from Lazio on a season-long loan with a permanent purchase clause of € 25 million. Inter have also paid Lazio € 5 million for a one-year loan transfer,

After falling behind with an early goal from Hellas Verona

, the Nerazzurri came back to win the game 3-1 with Joaquin Correa’s brace in his first game for the club.

Correa needed only nine minutes to score his first goal for Inter after he came off the bench to replace Lautaro Martinez in the 74th minute when the game was 1-1 thanks to a 47th-minute goal by Martinez.

The former Sevilla striker gave his side the lead

before finding the net for the second time in the night in the 94th minute to show his determination and quality in his debut game for the reigning Serie A champions.

“It was a wonderful day! I had dreamed of coming here since I was a kid, for the first time I wore the jersey and thank God we won with my goal,

” a grinning Correa told

Sky Sport Italia

.

“It’s the first time I’ve scored two goals on my debut, so I am really happy and want to thank my teammates, the coach and the club who had faith in me and made me feel like I had been here for years.

“There are some seasons when I didn’t score many goals, but I always tried to work for the team. I do try to score and today two went in. I dedicate the goals to my family, friends and all those who stood by me over the last month.”

On his ‘dream move to Inter’

, the Argentine added:

“I supported Inter as a kid because I saw so many Argentines playing here. I also came close when I was 16 and I wanted to make it happen.”

“Verona have a tough team who make you feel under pressure, they will do well in Serie A this season.”
