Sevilla offered Luuk de Jong to Barcelona after signing Rafa Mir
Barcelona has allegedly been approached about signing Sevilla striker Luuk de Jong.
Sevilla have bolstered their attack in recent days with the acquisition of
Rafa Mir
from Wolves, who joins Julen Lopetegui's side amidst being on the verge of moving to Atletico Madrid.
Mir has joined
Youssef En-Nesyri
in the Sevilla frontline, so de Jong is expected to see less play now.
According to Sport, this may open the door for Blaugrana to recruit the 30-year-old this summer, with Ronald Koeman reportedly looking for a frontman.
However, considering Barca's financial distress, a transfer would be difficult, and it's been stated that de Jong isn't necessary for the Catalans if they can sign another player before the transfer window closes.
Both
Martin Braithwaite
and
Sergio Aguero
are strikers for Barcelona, but the former has been connected with a move elsewhere, while the latter is sidelined for another nine weeks due to injury.
De Jong is priced at €10 million and has a two-year contract at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
