Juventus offer apology for racist Twitter post

Juventus have issued an apology for a tweet posted on their women’s team’s official account which showed one of their players making a gesture mocking Asian people.

making a “slant-eyed gesture” while wearing a cone as a hat on her head was tweeted by the club.

The tweet was condemned as racist by thousands of people before it was deleted and the Bianconeri account posted an apology.

"We sincerely apologize that our tweet, which was not meant to cause controversy or have any racial undertones, may have offended anyone,”

Juventus

posted a statement on Twitter

."

The Old Lady are currently in Catalonia to play the Champions League winners in Sunday's Joan Gamper Trophy, which will include a women's game for the first time.
