Barcelona still interested in Saul amid Premier League interest
The Atletico Madrid midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Wanda Metropolitano in recent weeks.
Barcelona were reportedly interested in a deal
to swap Antoine Griezmann for Saul Niguezthis summer. The move could reduce the club’s wage bill ahead of the next season as the Catalans are desperate to register the contracts of Lionel Messi and their four new signings.
According to
Diario AS, the Blaugrana are still interested in a move for the Rojiblancos star. However, the Catalans will only make a bid for the player if they manage to sell Griezmann. The representatives of Saul are reportedly negotiating with a host of Premier League clubs who are interested in a summer move for the 26-year-old.
The Rojiblancos signed
Rodrigo De Paulfrom Udinese earlier this month, which might further push Saul toward a move away from the club. Diego Simeone is expected to use De Paul alongside Koke at the heart of Atletico’s midfield from the next season.
