There is no age at which I exclude players – Flick

Germany boss says he will consider all the players for the World Cup tournament, regardless of their age.

Germany manager

Hansi Flick

insists that the only thing he considers for picking his squad for the 2022 World Cup is whether the players are good enough and ‘There is no age at which I exclude players’.

Aged players like

Mats Hummels

and

Thomas Muller

were exiled from international duty, as a result of Joachim Low’s rejuvenation plan and his desire to develop young talents. Low, however, recalled both of the players for the delayed Euro 2020 tournament after their stellar performances at the club level.

Asked by

DFB's official website

whether he would consider Hummels and Muller for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Germany’s new manager, Hansi Flick said:

"There is no age at which I exclude players from the national team.

"The most important thing is that the player is good enough and has a desire for the national team."

He added:

"We are working with the best players in the country, they have to show that they are the best ones.

"It's about every single player giving their very best, giving everything. We want to fascinate the fans with our offensive play. We still have a lot of work to do."
