Allegri and Agnelli assure Chiellini’s stay at Juventus

The Italy international does not have a contract yet, but according to Juventus coach Max Allegri and President Andrea Agnelli, he will remain put at the club.

Giorgio Chiellini

has contributed to Euro 2020 victory with Italy national team as their captain with an astonishing performance during the battle against England in the Final.

However, his contract with

Juventus

reached its end on June 30 and his representative revealed that he has not been contacted for a new contract.

I spoke to him on Monday, it seemed ridiculous to interrupt his vacation considering he’s been playing for two years uninterrupted, all to come and sign a piece of paper,”

explained President

Andrea Agnelli

in today’s press conference.

Coach

Max Allegri

was certain that the 36-year-old would be part of the Juve squad and he even reserved the captain’s armband for him.

“I have some older players, especially Cristiano Ronaldo, Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, who have to be added values for the club and set the example for the younger players, let them understand what Juventus means.”

The Italian defender made a move to the club in 2005 from

Fiorentina

and has made 535 appearances for the club since then, meeting the back of the net 36 times and providing 24 assists.

The signs refer to that tally not being ready to end there, especially with reports claiming that he asked for a two-year contract so that he can get prepared for the World Cup with Italy in 2022.
