‘No agreement for Griezmann and Saul swap deal’ - Fabrizio Romano

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have recently opened talks over a swap deal for Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez, but according to Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano both sides are yet to reach an agreement.

The France international signed for

Barcelona

in the summer of 2019 after the Catalan club paid his €120 million release clause in his contract with

Atletico

.

But he has failed to make an impact at Camp Nou and has only helped Barca win the Copa del Rey during his two-year spell at the club.

Lionel Messi

has reached a verbal agreement on a five-year contract extension at Barcelona, with his salary to be reduced by 50 percent under terms of the new deal.

With this in mind, Barcelona are willing to let Griezmann leave as they need to cut their wages this summer to make savings to keep Messi.

According to reports in Spain, two clubs have held talks over a swap for the two players, which would also involve Barcelona receiving some money alongside Saul.

However, according to

Fabrizio Romano

, the La Liga giants are yet to reach an agreement, and several Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool are seriously monitoring Saul’s situation.
