Joachim Low likes to mend his relationship with Ozil

admitted that he likes to meet with

Mesut Ozil

to end their feud. The

manager gave Ozil his debut in 2009 and he proved himself to be a key player for Die Mannschaft lineup before contributing to 2014 World Cup glory in Brazil.

However, the 32-year-old, who has played for Arsenal and Real Madrid, retired from international duty in 2018 and is not speaking with Low.

The German midfielder talked about his decision to end his career on the international level on social media and was not satisfied with how the German Football Association handles “racism and disrespect”.

He believed that the DFB did not support him when he was being criticized publicly, having been photographed with Turkey president Recep Erdogan and how he was a scapegoat for Germany’s exit from World Cup.

Low revealed that he felt ‘extremely disappointed’ with how Ozil handled the incident and told Sport Bild in 2019:

"I have nothing to do with Mesut Ozil.

“It went without saying that [he should have] called me personally. His agent called me and said that the Mesut [would] call me one day later to explain everything to me, but that did not happen."

However, he had a completely different tone when asked about Ozil in his last conference as the Germany boss on Wednesday.

The 61-year-old, who is going to be replaced by

Hansi Flick

, is keen on mending his relationship with Ozil and remember their time without bitterness.

"

Mesut leaving the National Team without consulting me beforehand was a great human disappointment for me,"

said Low.

"The time will come when we will talk or meet again. At some point, the day will come when we will talk things out and put everything aside.

"These memories will then also be positive for us. He was an incredibly important and great player with great skills."

After Germany’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of England in the Euro 2020 Round of 16, Low apologized to the fans before wishing the ex-Bayern Munich boss good luck.

"

It was not the farewell we had all imagined, the disappointment is very deep. I believed in this team,"

he added.

"I'm sorry that we disappointed the fans and didn't generate the enthusiasm we had planned.

"I take responsibility for this elimination, no ifs, ands or buts. I have to stand by that. My heart continues to beat black-red-gold. This team has a good future ahead of it. I wish my successor Hansi Flick all the best and much success."
