Scotland were no match for Modric - McGregor

The Scottish star is upset about his team's defeat against Croatia yesterday.

Scotland

midfielder Callum McGregor has claimed that it is very difficult to play against players like Modric after his side's 3-1 defeat to Croatia.

Last night, Croatia won by three goals from Nikola Vlasic, Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic against a single goal by McGregor, and advanced to the next round of the competition. Scotland performed poorly in the game and could not do anything against the Vatreni , and after the game, McGregor claimed that it was very difficult to play against a team at the Croatian level.

He said:

“The lads are shattered. The fans were amazing again and we want to thank them for their input."

Modric provided an assist and scored a spectacular goal, and McGregor added:

“That’s what you’re up against at this level. It was a tough learning experience tonight against some really top players but it just gives you the hunger to come back again.”

McGregor scored his first national goal yesterday and added:

“It’s always nice to score and get my first goal for my country – but ultimately we’re disappointed with the result."
