Eriksen incident urges Serie A clubs & Italy to take first aid courses

Gabriele Gravina, the FIGC President, revealed that Serie A clubs, as well as the Italy national team, should take courses in first aid following Christian Eriksen’s incident to prepare for such emergencies.

Christian Eriksen

fell down on the pitch during

Denmark

’s Euro 2020 clash against Finland on Saturday. The Denmark doctor gave an update later and revealed that the

Inter

midfielder has suffered a cardiac arrest.

The Denmark international received CPR on the field, but Simon Kjaer, his teammate, provided him with first aid that stopped Eriksen from swallowing his tongue and gave him a message on the heart.

Kjaer’s help had FIGC convinced that they should provide courses to teach first aid to all the players in Serie A and the Italy national team.

When Eriksen’s heart stopped, the same happened to the whole world of sport,”

Gravina said.

“We can only appreciate what Kjaer did, if Eriksen is still alive it’s thanks to him. I wish Eriksen a speedy recovery.

“We are going to organize first aid courses during the pre-season with federal doctors coordinated by professor Paolo Zeppilli. It’s a program that the federal medical commission approved this morning.

“We will meet the clubs at their training grounds and we will begin with the national team at Coverciano in the coming days.”

Francesco Acerbi and Jorginho were wishing the Danish player health and a fast recovery and are hoping to see him on the pitch again.

The 29-year-old’s condition is stable now and he is being tested in the hospital. Morten Boesen, the Denmark doctor, said that the reasons behind Eriksen’s heart attack are still unknown.

Piero Volpi, the Inter doctor, also revealed that Eriksen’s medical tests at Inter and Tottenham were both passed without a problem.
