Papin excited about France’s ‘seven musketeers’ in Euro 2020
The former Les Bleus striker is positive about France’s firepower ahead of their tournament opener against Germany.
France
are among the elite favorites to win Euro 2020. Les Bleus enjoy having a squad full of stars at their disposal for the tournament as they are set to face
Germany
,
Portugal
, and
Hungary
in the ‘Group of Death’.
Jean-Pierre Papin
is particularly happy about the team’s options in the final third.
He told German publication
Suddeutsche Zeitung
:
"We have seven musketeers in attack. There is enough firepower."
In addition to their already star-studded forward line, France will enjoy having
Karim Benzemaat their service. The
Real Madridstriker has been recalled to the national team for the first time in six years.
Asked about Benzema’s return to the team, Papin responded:
"If you are one of the best players in Europe, then you have your place in the national team.
"For me, he was the most consistent attacker in Europe alongside Robert Lewandowski.
"Whether with Benzema or without, not a single piece of the puzzle was missing. Benzema is a plus - like a wild card."
France will face Germany in their first match of the tournament on Tuesday. Les Bleus will then continue the group stage with matches against Hungary and Portugal on June 19 and 23.
